HUMANITIES DEPARTMENT
The
above named department is one of the most populated departments in the school.
The department consists of Languages, Arts and social sciences subjects which
comprise of competent, well qualified, knowledgeable and hardworking teachers
who discharge their duties effectively.
The
two departments used to be different entities; the two departments were merged
as one about 4 years ago. The department was created in 2012, which involves
Language, Arts and social sciences with about 20 teachers. The Arts subjects
consist of Literature-in-English, English language, Government, C.R.K, Creative
and Cultural arts, Yoruba, French, and Music. The social science consists of
social studies, civic education, economics, geography, and guidance and counseling.
The H.O.D of the department is Mrs. Ayodeji-Ajayi O.O.
The
department has subjects in junior and senior classes. The subjects taught in
the junior classes are: English language, social studies, Civic education,
C.R.K, Yoruba, French, Music, and C.C.A while the subjects taught in the senior
classes are: English language, Literature-in-English, Geography, Visual arts,
Civic education, economics, Yoruba, French, Dyeing and Bleaching.
Furthermore,
the department has been coaching students for both internal and external
examinations in Quiz, Debate and Spelling bee competitions. The department has
been bringing honor to the school through the various competitions won by the
students. The recent honor brought to the school is the spelling bee
competition organized by the Ekiti state Ministry of Education held in
Ado-Ekiti (2016), the school came first at the senior level led by ADESETO
AGBEDE (a science student) who came back with lots of prizes both for himself
and for the school.
Also,
sector in the department –Cultural and Creative Arts has been producing tie and
dye clothing materials and the making of beads both in bags designing necklace,
bangles and ear- rings to the school.
